Stripe Boxy Tshirt Dress with Tail by Bassike
Pop quiz, hotshot: It’s 35 degrees, you’re headed to a family BBQ with kids, dogs, alcohol and a whole lot of food. What do you wear? WHAT DO YOU WEAR?!
Answer: A giant, oversized T-shirt dress that you can tuck into your undies when the day gets too hot. Duh
Where do you go when you need such a thing? Well you go back to Bassike, pronounced like basic, but providing so much more.
While you can now get a lot more from Bassike than just basics, they originally established themselves in 2006 as the go to brand for (I want to say basics but I won’t) everyday wardrobe staples.
Their jersey pieces are 100% organic cotton, light as a feather, but weighty enough to be worn without feeling naked and they get an A plus for their “Made in Australia” tag. Honestly, I never thought I could feel so luxurious in, what is essentially, an oversized T-shirt.
I’m all about pyjama dressing these days. Give me something that I could quite easily wear to bed, to the beach and to dinner with heels. Call it lazy, call it fashion, call it whatever you want.
All I know is that in this bad boy, I will be having seconds, maybe thirds… and definitely dessert.
On that note, Happy Australia Day you flaming galas! Let the BBQs commence.

Wild Ones Gown by Spell & The Gypsy Collective
Christmas in Australia can be an uncomfortable time. It’s hot, humid and at all times, you’re usually at some level of full.
This year I was determined to be temperate and comfortable, while still trying to maintain some semblance of femininity. In my mind, there was only one option. The go-to piece of clothing that can take you from picnic to party, from sandy beaches to fancy dinners. The maxi dress.
This dress from Spell & The Gypsy Collective ticked all the boxes. Who better to trust, to combat the summer heat than a local label based in Byron Bay? It was floaty and breezy with an elastic waist that accommodated all of my indulgences for the day.
Extra points for making me feel like a forest fairy in my Christmas day surroundings.

Nothing says Summer like the colour white, denim shorts and breezy t-shirts. Put them all together and what do you have? An all white outfit that’s fresher than Mentos, and what’s Mentos? It’s the fresh maker. Duh.
If you’re going to tackle the white short look, the most important thing is the fit. Go for something higher waisted and looser around the leg. White shorts can go from relaxed and casual to working the corner, quicker than you can say “how much?”. Leave the platforms at home, wear them with a loose t-shirt and a pair of casual slides and you are on the summery, sandy road to crisp white freshness.
*Disclaimer: Wearing white shorts will automatically attract food and drink to the area. Wear with caution.

Although we’re not quite into Summer yet, last Friday definitely marked the turning point for me. It was a day that separated the strong from the weak, the men from the boys and the functional A/C units from the non-functional.
Sure enough as temps reached 34 degrees in Sydney City at 10am, our A/C at work decided it had had enough and took off to the beach, or to someone else’s office with a working system. Needless to say, the hair went up, the shoes came off, the whining and whinging commenced and I watched a group of relatively mature individuals turn into sweaty, grumpy hot messes. Literally.
If news reports are correct, Sunday is also set to break AC units state wide as we prepare for a 40 degree day, in other words, the hottest November day on record for the last 5 years.
Ideal scenario for a 40 degree day? Wearing nothing, while sitting in a cool 17 degree temperature controlled room.
Second place goes to a bathing suit, an ice cold Corona and a gentle sea breeze.
JIGSAW CLOTHING SS14 CAMPAIGN : SNEAK PEEK
Starring Katie Fogarty and Frederikke Olesen
While moonlighting as a beginner blogger, my current day job is working in the Design Team for Australian label Jigsaw Clothing.
As with most established labels there will always come a time to make a change. In Jigsaw’s case we are making a change to align ourselves more with our slightly cooler older Sister Jigsaw UK, well known for supplying the UK with cool relaxed silhouettes and luxurious fabrics and prints for the last few decades.
Jigsaw Clothing Australia currently caters to all your workwear, tailoring and occasion needs and our SS14 collection offers all that and more. Smart day and casual wear are making a come back at Jigsaw where we are resuscitating our denim range.
Additionally we continue our homage to Jigsaw’s motherland with our work with Liberty’s of London, providing Australia with a touch of England in the form of their signature prints.
Above is a sneak peek of our SS14 campaign, set to officially launch at the beginning of August.
