Winter white is my new favourite colour. Granted I’m being liberal by labeling it a colour, but when I spend most of my days head to toe in black, it’s almost like stepping out in hot pink. Get it in perspective people. So anyway, as I was saying, Winter White is my new favourite colour.
As the days get colder, the meals get warmer, bigger and decidedly more unhealthy. This results in clothes getting baggier, layering and best of all OUTERWEAR. The best thing about Winter, apart from eating what you want and knowing you won’t be in a bikini for at least 6 months (can I hear an amen), is getting re-acquainted with your Winter wardrobe and best of all, buying a new coat.
When I think about purchasing outerwear, I want it to last. I want to be able to pull out that coat that used to be a ball of crisp hundred dollar bills or lets face it, probably a small chunk of credit on a Visa and wear it season after season. Who doesn’t want to get their moneys worth these days? Petrol ain’t getting any cheaper and my Shellac mani/pedi isn’t going to pay for itself.
White is a “colour” that will never go out of season, similarly to Black or Camel. It’s a non offensive shade of nothing that will live out its days happily in your outerwear cycle. Pick a style that has a good silhouette and simple clean lines that you won’t get sick of. This little number that I designed for work has just gone into store and is a sturdy shorter length coat, slightly over sized and made out of a heavy off white, boiled wool.
So say it with me, I love Winter weight! I mean white… Well at least there’s room for both of you in this coat.

It’s Friday! The laziest day of the work week.
Who wants to think about putting on more than one item of clothing on a Friday? No one. Unless you’re a guy.
That’s why today, I settled on my favourite hybrid that is, the Denim Onsie. Cool enough to work with the warm Spring sun, long sleeves to combat the still slightly icy wind and to top it off, it’s DENIM.
So with the challenge of working out my wardrobe well accomplished, I am now faced with another more pressing natter. Going to the bathroom.

After baggying it out yesterday in my BFs it only felt right to step into or should I say shimmy into my tight black jeans. Who am I kidding, they’re definitely jeggings.
As much as I hate the idea of a pair of leggings masquerading as a pair of jeans, these are a no brainer to pull on. Especially when I’m in a flustered rush in the morning, because I happened to hit snooze button one too many times. We’ve all been there, warm, comfortable and blissfully unaware that in exactly 9 minutes you will be thrown into a world of panic when you realise you’re meant the be in the office opening emails in exactly 35mins.
In times like this, I’m glad that 80% of my wardrobe is black. By completely limiting my colour choices over the years, I’ve pretty much guaranteed myself a 90% hit rate of not looking awful.
Black tee, tick. Black blazer, tick. Black jeans… with an elasticised waistband? DOUBLE TICK.

NB. My shoes are glowing orbs of Nike goodness in the photos so if you actually want to see what they look like, here they are taking their first bright white steps in the sunny seaside town of Monterey, CA while I was on a road trip from LA to SF up the Pacific Coast Highway. They’ve seen some shit.
Wednesday, otherwise known as hump day. The day that to some signifies the last half of the week and to others solidifies the fact that IT’S ONLY WEDNESDAY?!
For me, it’s a slow steady process before I truly cross the hump.
When I woke up today I was tired, grumpy and wanted nothing more than to pull my track pants on. As I stared blankly at my wardrobe, my eyes on my clothes but my mind firmly still on my sweats, I settled on the next best thing. My baggiest of baggy boyfriend jeans. There’s something amazingly comforting about being able to pull a pair of jeans on without undoing the fly. As I settled into baggy, unrestricted, denimy glory, I immediately began to see the glimmer of Friday afternoon in the distance, through my sleepy eyes.
There’s not many items of clothing that can be as comfortable as your pjs but still completely socially acceptable office attire. I threw on a loose t-shirt, an oversized long blazer and my most comfortable heels and I was out the door, ready and invigorated to take on the day.
And then I remember, It’s only WEDNESDAY…
