Coco Chanel said “Everyday is a fashion show and the World is your runway”. Well sometimes I can’t function well enough to simply put one foot in front of the other, let alone dress well enough for a runway. BUT one lesson I’ve learnt along the way is that a boring outfit can be brought to life with some great accessories.
The other day, my alarm beeps, I roll over, hit snooze, hit snooze, hit snooze, hit snooze… You get where I’m going. All of a sudden I have 15 minutes to get ready and be in my car fighting the shitty Sydney peak hour traffic. With no time to think, I throw on my black leather leggings and a white button up shirt and look at my shabby self in the mirror. I mean, as you can see I don’t even have time to iron the shirt, if I’m being honest I actually didn’t even notice how badly crushed the shirt was until I looked at the photos. Whoops #blogging101.
I desperately need a quick fix to take this outfit from the “I have no clean clothes” look to “I clearly planned this” look. Just like delicious cream cheese icing hides a terrible, dry, vanilla cake. With 5 minutes and counting I grabbed the most patterned/busy shoes I could find (a lucky last minute purchase at the Senso warehouse sale), the biggest earrings I have and a crazy pair of gold, glitter, mirrored sunglasses. With one last look at myself, I run out the door.
To be fair I was still a couple of minutes late to work and when I sat down I noticed my shirt buttons were misaligned… Doh. Let’s just hope everyone was too busy looking at my earrings or my dirty hair to notice.
Nothing says Summer like the colour white, denim shorts and breezy t-shirts. Put them all together and what do you have? An all white outfit that’s fresher than Mentos, and what’s Mentos? It’s the fresh maker. Duh.
If you’re going to tackle the white short look, the most important thing is the fit. Go for something higher waisted and looser around the leg. White shorts can go from relaxed and casual to working the corner, quicker than you can say “how much?”. Leave the platforms at home, wear them with a loose t-shirt and a pair of casual slides and you are on the summery, sandy road to crisp white freshness.
*Disclaimer: Wearing white shorts will automatically attract food and drink to the area. Wear with caution.

A vintage leather skirt and a white tee are a match made in monochrome, not to mention extremely affordable, heaven.
Anytime I walk into a vintage store I am all over that leather skirt section like a fat kid on cake. Usually you have to sift through a whole bunch of strangely fitting 80’s skirts. But when you do find something though, you can usually pick up a 100% leather, fully lined skirt for around $50-$70.
I found this perfectly fitting gem in a vintage store in Melbourne just off Brunswick street in May and I completely forgot I had it until recently. One of the hazards of having an almost all black wardrobe is that things manage to slip into the shadows.
On the up side, it makes grabbing things blindly and randomly in the mornings an extremely low risk activity.

It’s Friday! The laziest day of the work week.
Who wants to think about putting on more than one item of clothing on a Friday? No one. Unless you’re a guy.
That’s why today, I settled on my favourite hybrid that is, the Denim Onsie. Cool enough to work with the warm Spring sun, long sleeves to combat the still slightly icy wind and to top it off, it’s DENIM.
So with the challenge of working out my wardrobe well accomplished, I am now faced with another more pressing natter. Going to the bathroom.

What do you wear when you’re going to eat 1.5KG of BBQ meat along with sides like Bacon Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Bacon Beans, Slaw, Brioche, topped off with healthy serving of Cronuts and coffee?
Some adjectives that popped into my head while I was getting dressed were baggy, stretchy, elasticised, comfortable, did I mention baggy and stretchy? So that’s exactly what I did. I pulled on my elasticised waist jersey skirt, baggiest black tank and even my most comfortable bra and I was ready for any food that was coming my way.
My Sunday was looking up. The sun was shining, the day was getting warmer, I couldn’t see a cardigan, jacket or hoodie in sight AND i stumbled across this awesome graffiti of jousting knights riding prawns on the way to lunch.
KNIGHTS. RIDING. PRAWNS.

We had our first official Doggy Friday this week and I borrowed a co-workers Labradoodle to grab some happy snaps. Bailey the Labradoodle was too cool for a real lead, instead opting for a makeshift one, made out of orange nylon rope. What a dirty hipster.
I felt that I had dressed appropriately enough for the occasion, going for a mix of dog walker meets 90’s rapper, in stilettos. In reality, I just wanted to wear my track pants to work and wearing them with my Chuck Taylors or my Air Maxs was just too literal.
My conclusion about Doggy Friday? Fridays are made exponentially more enjoyable by introducing dogs and puppies.
Oh and wearing track pants to work. That always helps.
